Flag Flying

Every time when I'm walking on the streets, I always notice those "flagpoles" without flags. Somtimes I would wonder "why?". Just two days ago, when I steped out my department in the morning and ...wow! I saw flags flying here and there along the streets!

Simple white with blue, combination of my favorite colors. At the same time, I also noticed another kind of flag, which has a red pattern in the middle of the cross, and that made me even more curious.

So, at lunch time, I asked my finnish friend and she then told me that in Finland, they have so-called "Flag days", which are not public holidays but these flying flags are used to remember some important people who have special devotion to Finland. As for the flags with red pattern, they are usually flown in front of the official or administrative buildings, such as universities or parliament.

I really love this way of remembering someone! It's so special, isn't it?
