Groundhog Day is a story about Phil Connors (by Bill Murray), a meteorologist, who lives in the same day over, over, over and over again. Throughout the story, we can see Phil's wondering at the beginning and getting excited (because he can do whatever he wants and things never change). Then he starts to feel despaired and tries to make "the same day" shorter by killing himself in different ways. Knowing himself can do nothing for it, he starts to make this day different: helping others, reading, learning piano, and getting to know Rita (by Andie MacDowell), whom he never understands, even if this day keeps repeated. When comes Phil's tomorrow after all?
Well, it's of course impossible that we are kept stuck in the same day, but sometimes we might fall into this "déjà vu" kind of life: meeting familiar people, doing our everyday work...etc. Our life seems to be a routine, keeping repeated maybe not daily, but weekly.
Just take a little time and ask yourself: "Have I ever enjoyed each day of my life?"
If negative, then why not try to make your life a little bit different from now on? Why not make your each day a contented and lovely day? Phil has tried himself, how about us, who live not in the story, but in the real world?
I was looking out the window,
ReplyDeleteat that brilliant sunshine out there today,
asking why I was not outside.
I was stuck indoors, cooking, having guests for lunch.
I promised myself that should there ever be a brilliant Sunday like this,
I would ask everybody out to the Vienna Woods,
eat in one of those little restaurants, then go for a walk.
I hope the sun comes back to your region. I hear that your woods bear some pretty fall colours when the leaves turn.
Dear Merisi,
ReplyDeleteSun finally comes this morning and the weather is also warmer. I will definitely take a little walk today and wish you a wonderful day, too ;-)
